Board of Trustees

Mary Egan is a strategist, entrepreneur, Board Director, educator, consultant, and executive coach.  She brings to Kripalu nearly three decades of experience unlocking profitable growth for consumer businesses. Egan serves on the boards of both private and publicly traded companies, in addition to consulting with high-growth venture capital and private equity-backed businesses.

Earlier in her career, Egan spent 14 years at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where she was a Partner and Managing Director working with consumer companies to develop and implement innovative growth strategies. She co-founded the BCG Center for Consumer Insight, and a consumer-centric approach to strategy remains her hallmark. She subsequently led strategy for Starbucks, helping to drive the transformation of both the brand and the business.  Egan later founded food tech startup Gatheredtable based on the principle that food is medicine; she served as CEO from inception through the exit to a strategic buyer.

Egan began her career working in and around urban public education for nearly a decade, including teaching math and science at a public middle school in Harlem for several years, working as an analyst at a non-profit think tank, and serving as a special assistant to the Deputy Chancellor of the NYC Public Schools. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MSEd from Bank Street Graduate School of Education, and a BA from Barnard College at Columbia University.

Mary first visited Kripalu over 30 years ago and considers yoga an essential element of her life’s journey. She believes wholeheartedly in Kripalu’s mission and is honored to serve on the organization’s board. Mary lives with her family on an island near Seattle, WA, where she is grateful for opportunities to immerse herself in the natural world of the Pacific Northwest.
