Matthew Lyons

Board of Trustees

Matthew Lyons is a graduate of Western Michigan University and George Washington University School of Law. He worked for 26 years in the political and government relations arena in Washington, DC, until feeling drawn in 2018 to fully focus his heart, energy, and attention on yoga and mindfulness practices.

Matthew believes the practice of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness found him about 10 years ago. After many years of regular practice and inquiry, Matthew was heart-led to teach, and completed a 200-hour training in May 2017. Truly a life-long seeker, Matthew has subsequently completed a number of trainings for Yin Yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, sound healing, Sanskrit, and theory.

Matthew first came to Kripalu in 2017, and he continues to return for yoga and meditation trainings, conferences, retreats, and the sanctuary offered by the location in the Berkshires. He is excited to take part in furthering Kripalu’s mission and making the offerings available and accessible to even more people.

Matthew lives in Washington, DC, with his wife Carla. His adult son, Noah, also lives in the Washington, DC area.
